Defective Diaper Drama

My husband and I purchase diapers by the box- 192 diapers, to be exact. This comes in handy since we live an hour away from a big town and it cuts down on trash from packaging.. Upon opening the latest box, I discovered some of the diapers are missing a gusset on one side.

*** For those of you not yet versed in the ways of the diaper, this is pretty important. A gusset is an elastic piece of the diaper that helps to ensure those little (or big) messes stay IN the diaper and not oozing down the leg of your little one.***

Now, I have rarely had a good experience with customer service reps. Some take your complaint personal, some don't even pretend to care, and few leave you fully satisfied with the experience. However, the folks at Huggies gave me hope!

I found their 800 number on the side of the box and dialed, determined to make sure they did SOMETHING about the defective diapers. I was prepared for a fight! To my surprise, the call was answered by Sandy, a very cheerful and helpful woman. Sandy listened to what I had to say about the missing parts, took note of the production information on the side of the box, and informed me that they'd be mailing out coupons to replace the diapers we had bought AND a few extra for our trouble. I thanked her for her kindness and efficiency, then hung up the phone and felt...shocked. That was too easy!

So, friends, never hesitate to voice your opinion and make use of that customer service line!

  1. I had a similar thing happen... a couple of diapers with no tabs! (A big deal when you have twins in diapers... every diaper counts!) Huggies sent me a $3 off coupon and $1 off any other Kimberly Clark product.

I've also complained to Pampers for faulty tabs, and they also sent me coupons.

And I don't complain all the time. :-) Sometimes places will send you coupons when you tell them nice things, too! (I got a free bottle of Pledge MultiSurface that way!)
